In a certification published Thursday in the official government gazette La Gaceta, the Office of the Attorney General authorized the transfer of the mining lot known as Isabela, which had been managed by the Chinese company Zhong Fu before the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), under ministerial agreement 001-SBT-M-001-2026.
The Isabela lot, located in the municipality of Mulukukú in Nicaragua’s Northern Caribbean region, covers 201.30 hectares. It now belongs to the company Waslala Mine S.A., which has been granted the right to explore and exploit the resources in that area.
Waslala Mine S.A. is represented in Nicaragua by Chinese businessman Lizhen Shi, holder of residency number 000128771.

Great areas transferred in less than three months
The Isabela lot had originally been granted to Zhong Fu through agreement 070-SBT-M-066-2025 in October 2025.
However, the company—represented by Chinese businessman Feiwu Bian—held the concession for less than a month before requesting authorization from the MEM in November of that same year to “fully transfer the rights to its mining concession.”
During the first months of this year, Zhong Fu has carried out a series of transfers of its mining lots, totaling more than 60,000 hectares distributed among four Chinese companies.
The Tutuwaka mining lot, which covers 6,000 hectares in El Rama in the South Caribbean region, was transferred in January from Zhong Fu Development to the company Tutuwaka Mining Company S.A.

That same month, Zhong Fu Development also transferred its rights to the El Muelle lot—spanning 9,300 hectares and located between the municipalities of El Rama and Muelle de los Bueyes—to the Chinese company Southern Mining Company.
The company likewise ceded its rights to the Siuna lot, which covers 46,172.50 hectares in Nicaragua’s Northern Caribbean region, to the Chinese firm Y.M. Mining Company.
Why is this happening? Nobody seems to have an answer.
